DIY Bath Bombs

Bath bombs1
So I’ve been making stuff with my essential oils for about a year now…….I’ve made creams, deodorant, shower soothers, lotion bars and lots of other chemical-free yummy stuff!  I finally perfected my BATH BOMB recipe!!  I’m excited because I’ve been experimenting for awhile and things were just coming up short either they weren’t fizzy enough, or not bright enough colored, not scented enough, etc. BUT now I’m posting a recipe that really works and is easy.  It may still take a few tries for you get it down but you will & then you can make your own #Lush inspired bath bombs 🙂
Just an FYI if you like the Karma scented bath bomb from Lush then use these oils to scent your bath bombs:
  • Bergamot
  • Patchouli
  • Orange

A few other favorites are:

  • Peppermint
  • Lavender
  • Stress Away (Young Living blend)
  • 2 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup citric acid
  • 1 cup corn starch
  • 1/2 cup epsom salt
  • 5 tbs almond oil (or apricot kernal)
  • 30 drops of your favorite Young Living essential oils
  • 1 tbs water
  • mica powder to color
  • **optional** non-toxic glitter

bath bombs2

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients, then mix into the dry. Mix quickly as you pour the wet ingredients in as the water will start to react. Make sure to mix very well.
  3. If using glitter, sprinkle some in the molds, then promptly scoop in the mixture and press down.
  4. Let them sit in the molds and dry for at least 24 hours.
  5. You can leave out if using within a few days, but it is best to store bath bombs in air tight packaging long term, so they will hold their scent well.

Get Ready For Some Natural Energy!

ningxia zyng1

Got energy drinks?

I hate to admit it but I used to drink Red Bull…..and enjoy it!  What I did not enjoy were the side effects like the jitters from the caffeine high or the crash I felt a few hours later.  It’s been almost one year since I was introduced to Young Living and all of its amazing natural products.  It feels so good to be using products that are not only chemical free but made from pure, natural ingredients!

Get ready for some NingXia Zyng!  Let’s spotlight one of Young Living’s new products called NingXia Zyng.  NingXia Zyng is a sparkling beverage that is very light and refreshing. You will not only feel hydrated but also a “Zyng” of energy. Zyng gets it Zing from its proprietary blend of black pepper and lime essential oils. It also contains wolfberry in a puree form along with white tea extract. With a fruitful hint you may taste the pear and blackberry juice concentrates.  NingXia Zyng only contains 35 calories per serving which is 8.4 ounces. Talk about invigorating all of your senses, you are going to love this new drink. NingXia Zyng has no artificial sweeteners, additives or preservatives. It is sweetened with natural stevia.

Roller Bottles make the topical application of oils super easy. Depending on the recipe you add your drops of oils in a roller bottle, and then fill it up the rest of the way with carrier oil.

Plant Guru Carrier Oil Variety Pack 16oz PRO

Carrier oils are a must-have if you plan to use essential oils for anything other than homemade cleaning products. A carrier oil is simply a liquid vegetable oil of some sort that is used to dilute the very concentrated essential oils.

My favorite carrier oil is Apricot Kernal Oil.  Other options would include olive oil (kinda greasy, but it works), avocado oil, sweet almond oil, and fractionated coconut oil.

You can usually find these at your local health food store, or Amazon carries them.

*Fractionated coconut oil is simply coconut oil that has had the long chain fatty acids removed from it. The benefit of FCO is that it stays liquid at room temp, and is a lot handier to use for essential oil applications than regular coconut oil, which is usually solid at room temp.

Use a carrier oil if you are applying a “hot” essential oil like Oregano or Peppermint, as well as well you are applying essential oils to a child or someone with sensitive skin.

Foaming Hand Soap #ChemicalFree

DIY Foaming Hand Soap
Foaming Hand Soap
So listen up…….I decided about 8 months ago to ditch the Bath & Body Works, and all the other fun, smelly and perfectly packaged hand soaps!  It was SO HARD because I’m a product junkie.  And we like to buy our fancy, store bought products right?  WELL have you taken the time to read the labels and research a little about what your putting on your body?  Your skin is the biggest surface area and your really contaminating yourself every time you put on that pumpkin spice body soap or lotion.
When I first started using Young Living essential oils I was overwhelmed…..where would I start with making my own products.  Then I just started replacing one product in my bath and beauty routine.  It was easy and I felt this sense of accomplishment like I was checking things off my list.  I have been doing replacement buying with the oils……meaning I’m actually saving $$$ using my oils to make #chemicalfree products I used to pay big bucks for at Macy’s and Target.  AND I’m getting better results 🙂
  • A Foaming Soap Dispenser (Amazon Prime-you must get a membership for your DIY stuff)
  • 2 Tbs. of Dr. Bronners Soap (Target, Amazon or any health food store)
  • Distilled Water
  • 1 tsp. of Almond Oil
  • 8 drops of Young Living essential oils
  • Fill the soap dispenser with water about 3/4 of the way
  • Add the soap and almond oil
  • Add 8 drops of any essential oil
  • Add more water to fill bottle

My favorite blends:

  • Thieves with the peppermint Dr. Bronners Soap
  • Lavender and Tea Tree with unscented Dr. Bronners Soap
  • Orange and Lemon with unscented Dr. Bronners Soap
  • Peace & Calming II with unscented Dr. Bronners Soap

This is so easy & makes great gifts too-ENJOY!!!
